Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions:

Q: “What is your rescheduling/cancellation policy?”

A: Sessions that must be rescheduled or cancelled due to personal reasons of the client must be rescheduled/cancelled with a minimum of 24 hours notice prior to their session. If there is not 24 hours notice, the client is still required to pay the full amount of their session fee. Sessions may be rescheduled once at no extra cost, subsequent rescheduling will result in a fee of $150.

Q: “What is your weather policy?”

A: Sessions requiring rescheduling due to extreme weather may be rescheduled at no extra cost. “Extreme weather” consists of anything that may cause harm to the client, photographer, or camera equipment. This includes excessive cold or heat, rain, hail, snow, or wind. Winter sessions require a temperature of over -25 degrees Celsius. Sessions including children and pets will likely require rescheduling even with temperatures above that.

Q: “Do you require a retainer fee?”

A: Yes. Retainer fees are due at time of booking and are are non-refundable for any reason. In the case of maternity photos being cancelled due to early labour, your retainer fee may be transferred to a newborn session.

Q: “Are the photo sessions outdoors?”

A: Sessions are typically outdoors unless otherwise requested/specified. Newborn sessions will always be indoor.

Q: “How will I receive my final photos?’

A: Photos are sent to you via email on a secure and private online gallery. From this gallery, you may view all the best photos from your session and select the ones you would like to download (the number of photos depends on your chosen photo package). A second link will then be sent to you where you may download high quality copies of your digital images. Your gallery will not remain available online forever, so remember to download and save your photos! I recommend saving to multiple places (computer hard drive, external hard drive, USB, CD, Online platforms such as Google Photos or Dropbox Etc.) as well as making prints so you have your photos forever!

Maternity Sessions:

Q: “Whens the best time to take my maternity photos?”

A: 28 - 32 weeks is recommended for a few reasons. In this time frame you will be showing well for photos, and are less likely to be feeling unwell in this time. Doing photos beyond 32 weeks is fine, however the risk of delivering your little one before photos becomes a greater risk as time goes on. Also by having your shoot between 28-34 weeks means you will receive your photos and be able to share them before baby arrives!

Q: “How far in advance should I book?”

A: Booking early (around 20 weeks) is a great way to confirm you will have availability around the time you wish to have your session. This also gives plenty of time to order in new maternity gowns if you have a specific vision or size in mind that is not currently available in my client closet.

Q: “Do you offer bundles for maternity and newborn photos?”

A: I do! Contact me for bundled pricing information.

Q: “What should I wear to my session?”

A: Check out my client closet listed under the “info” tab to view the gowns available for your use. If you do not wish to use these that is completely fine! Casual outfits that make you feel comfortable and amazing are welcome to any maternity session. We will discuss styling further closer to your session date.

Q: “What should my spouse wear for photos to compliment the gowns I will be wearing?”

A: A classic white button up shirt paired with a nice pair of jeans or dark dress pants is a staple for spouses who will be apart of maternity sessions. Kindly ask your spouse to remove any hats, sunglasses or other clothing that you do not wish to be included in your photos prior to your session.

Q: “What do I need to bring?/how should I prepare for my maternity session”

  • Wear clothing that is easy to change in and out of.

  • Bring shoes appropriate to the weather/season as they will be able to be hidden under most gowns. If you are wearing a gown that shows your feet we will discuss this prior to your session.

  • It is ideal to wear a smooth, nude, and strapless bra. Some gowns require backless sticky bras if possible.

  • Wear seamless nude underwear (or none at all!) for form fitted gowns.

  • Please remove accessories that are unwanted in photos such as watches prior to sessions to ensure they do not get lost.

  • Bring any props that are important to you that you would like included (this is not required!) Some examples include sonogram photos, custom signs with your babies name etc.

Newborn/Birth Sessions:

Q: “What type of newborn sessions do you offer?”

A: I offer lifestyle newborn sessions in the hospital or your own home. These sessions capture the details of your newborn and their arrival into your family in a beautifully natural way. These sessions often include activities such as bath time, breastfeeding, or reading/playing with your other children as a family. Whatever activity is personal to you and your family to show off everyday life with your newest addition.

Q: Do you offer birth photography?

A: Yes! I offer a limited amount of birth sessions through the year. These photos document one of the most important moments of your life in a tasteful and beautiful way. With these photos you are able to choose limitations on what gets photographed when, so you always feel safe, supported, and in control.
